If I could only have one type of regulator it would be an Atomic M1. Don’t get me wrong I love how lightweight my T3s are and the fact that they won’t corrode but the M1 is the best bang for your buck. I have used this reg under the ice, beyond 100 meters depth, in silty caves, in high flow for over a decade and it is still my go to reg for everything. Having the openings to the diaphragm be on the sides makes a huge difference when scootering into a highflown cave. The wider T-piece is awesome and you combine that with the optional cave ring it is the best setup for cold water cave diving period.

My arsenal of regulators consists entirely of Atomic Aquatics M1s! This is a fantastic regulator! I know I would be happy with any of the other Atomic regs, but the M1 is built for those cold, dark and murky technical diving environments. The comfort swivel on the second stage is nice, but as a tech diver one tries to keep things as simple as possible. In its place there is a stylish heat sink to take on the colder temperatures. The Monel metal used in the construction also allows higher oxygen level use. The swivel turret on the first stage also makes for some really nice hose-routing. Adding a cave ring adds an aesthetically-pleasing style as well as the ability to partially-disassemble the second stage to clean out debris while underwater!

I have been diving the Atomic M1 regulator for over 18 years. It is the most robust, durable, regulator I have ever owned. It works flawlessly in warm as well as extremely cold environments and has never let me down. I use it for technical diving as well as recreational diving and have it as my primary regulators as well as my deco regulators. I can’t say enough good about the Atomic brand regulators in general and particularly the Atomic M1!

I own three M1’s and I’m buying a fourth! Fantastic reg for tech, cave, and pretty fish diving!
