Channel Islands – 2024
Channel Islands - 2024
Diving California and the Channel Islands and can be a unique and memorable experience. The kelp forests, sea caves, and coves of the channel islands await the adventurous diver. Some of the best diving in the world can be done right where we are headed in California!
California scuba diving is more diverse and colorful than most would think. Although we love a good warm-water dive trip, the marine life, rocky reefs, pinnacles, walls and sandy plains the Channel Islands are truly a bucket list dive trip. Join our Dive Addicts professionals on this adventurous (and affordable – only $675) dive trip aboard the Peace live-a-board dive boat.
Diving the Channel Islands
The Channel Islands are a diver’s playground. The Channel Islands span a distance of 160 miles from Point Conception to San Diego and lie between 11 and 60 miles offshore.
They comprise two distinct groups: four Northern Islands (San Miguel, Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz, and Anacapa) and four Southern Islands (Santa Barbara, Santa Catalina, San Nicholas, and San Clemente). All four of the Northern islands and Santa Barbara Island from the Southern group belong to the Channel Islands National Park, while San Clemente and San Nicholas Islands are owned by the military. Santa Catalina Island is mostly owned by the Catalina Island Conservancy with the remainder falling under the jurisdiction of Los Angeles County.
Peace Dive Boat
The 62 foot wooden hulled boat was built in 1972 as a sport fishing boat and was converted shortly after for scuba diving. The Peace dive boat has four compressors that pump 40 cubic feet of air per minute, 24 bunks (Dive Addicts is only signing up 20 divers to give us a bit of extra space), a full galley, a hot tub, Starlink Internet (included with your Dive Addicts charter!), a chase boat and a swim step for ease of divers to board. They have been in Ventura Harbor for 35 years and have loved every minute of it. The Peace dive trips specialize in the Northern Channel Islands.
Divers can view the California Moray eel, giant Black Sea Bass, Garibaldi, Sea Lions, Spanish Shawl nudibranch, Harbor Seals, Bat Ray, kelp forests and much more. Tank air fills and meals are provided, and nitrox is available for an additional fee (paid directly to the boat). The hot tub seats 8 people, a fantastic feature for the cold Pacific waters.
Overnight trips board at 9:00 PM SHARP the NIGHT BEFORE (we will board at 9pm Thursday, Aug 1 2024). We ask everyone be on time for the mandatory coast guard safety briefing.
Cost: $675 per person
